Most funeral homes hand you a set of bundled packages and ask you to pick one. You end up paying for services your family will never use, and the things you actually want are buried somewhere in the fine print.
We do it differently. Summit Cremation has one Basic Cremation Package at $950. From there, you add exactly what your family needs and nothing else, right inside our online arrangement process. Every price is listed on this page. You will never have to ask what something costs.
Basic Cremation Package — $950
Included in every arrangement:
• Transferring your loved one into our care
• Refrigeration for up to 10 days
• Dignified private cremation, up to 250 lbs

• Family pickup of the urn in Salt Lake County
Required by law: The State of Utah requires a cremation permit for every cremation. It costs $157 and is added to every arrangement. That means the minimum a family pays is $1,107. We list it here rather than surprising you with it later.

What “Private Cremation” Means
Your loved one is cremated individually. No shared chambers, ever. We maintain a documented chain of identification from the moment your loved one enters our care through the return of the cremated remains.
Up to 250 Pounds Included
Many low-cost cremation providers include individuals up to 200 pounds and charge a surcharge above that. Our base price covers up to 250 pounds. For families whose loved one falls in that range, this alone can be a difference of several hundred dollars.
How Families Typically Use This
Some families choose the $950 package and nothing more. Others add a handful of death certificates and hand delivery of the urn. Some add a private viewing so they can say goodbye before the cremation, then hold a memorial months later on their own terms.
There is no wrong combination. That is the point.

Is $950 really the whole price?
$950 is the whole price of our Basic Cremation Package. The State of Utah adds a required $157 cremation permit, which brings the minimum to $1,107. Anything beyond that is something you actively chose from the list above.
Are there charges that appear later?
No. Everything we charge for is on this page. You will see the running total as you build your arrangement online, before you authorize anything. We also cover the credit card processing fees ourselves rather than passing them on to you at checkout.
How many death certificates do most families need?
Most families order somewhere between four and eight. It is worth knowing that many institutions do not require a certified original at all. Most banks and the Social Security Administration generally do not, and will work from a photocopy or from records they already have. The ones that usually do require certified copies are life insurance companies, pension and retirement administrators, and county recorders handling property title transfers.
